Barangay Pantal and other local government units (LGUs), non-government organizations, the academe and the private sector participated in first National Clean-Up day.
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) organized a simultaneous nationwide cleanup program with the theme "Bayan Ko, Linis Ko." which will be held every September and was proclaimed National Clean Up month through the Presidential Proclamation No. 244, series of 1993.
Barangay Pantal officials along with their families supported the National Clean-Up Day on September 24 achieving the partnering towards people’s empowerment movement in Pantal Elementary School Covered Court.
According to DENR, national clean-up day aims to empower the implementation of Republic Act 9003 or the Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000. It also aims to preserve Philippine bodies of water, mountains and watersheds and urban and rural areas. Lastly, to mobilize all the local government units nationwide for a one-day clean up with the participation of all sectors of society.
