Total number of people having dengue in Pangasinan has decreased to 12.7% from January 1 to August 16 of this year compared last 2015.
According to the records of Provincial Health Office (PHO), only 1,486 individuals had dengue this 2016 compared to its high record last year which was 1,703.
The mentioned cases because of dengue are mostly women whom are the following: 7 months old baby from Calasiao, 6 years old child from Urdaneta City, 11 years old from Mabini, 2 years old from Binalonan, 53 years old from Umingan, 7 years old child from Dagupan and 61 years old from Asingan.
Meanwhile, PHO said that cases of death occurred this year was also fewer than last year.
On the other hand, PHO mentioned cities and municipalities in Pangasinan with the highest dengue cases recorded: Asingan (122), Pozorrubio (85), Mangaldan (63), San Fabian (63), Malasiqui (57), San Carlos City (54), Calasiao (53), Sta. Maria (50), Umingan (50), Bayambang (48), Mabini (41), Alaminos City (39) at Binalonan (39).
Most of the dengue victims this year are boys with ages 10 to 14 years old.
Meanwhile, provincial health officer Dr. Anna Maria Teresa de Guzman, advised the public to regularly clean their surroundings especially during rainy seasons to prevent dengue.
