Department of Education (DepEd) Dagupan City along with local government units (LGUs) organized and celebrated their first ever Recognition of Excellence in International Competitions on September 28 at Dagupan City National High School (DCNHS) Abong na Alumni.
Students from private and public schools who exhibited outstanding efforts and success in different international competitions such as the International Math Contests, Malaysia International Children’s Choral Festival, 2016 FIBA 3x3 U18 Asian Championships, 7th ASEAN Quiz Competition, and World Robotics Competition were given plaques of merit to acknowledge them in the quality of their performance in honoring and giving pride to their city.
Mayor Belen Fernandez gave her warmest congratulations to these children who made waves in various competitions in the country and overseas. She also gave thanks to their coaches and parents who supported and encouraged them.
“Today I stand before you with the brightest confidence about the progress we can accomplish together over the next few years in terms of caring, supporting, educating and honoring our children,” MBTF said in her statement
Meanwhile, DepEd Supt. Froserfina Bravo says that she was amazed with these children because they are not only for local competitions but also for world stage competitions. They are globally competitive, she added.
Dagupan’s world class achievers appreciated the effort and recognition of DepEd and LGU. They also appreciate the opportunity to thank those who have helped them in their international competitions.
The recognition ended up with a testimonial banquet.
