On September 11, Mayor Belen Fernandez took a screenshot of alleged fake facebook group account of ‘MBTF Scholars’ to inform the citizen who also prompted the netizens to tagged and asked MBTF Scholars about this issue in facebook.
Mark Joseph Munoz, president of MBTF scholar and Nicolai Aquino who is also a scholar presented themselves in City Mayor’s office on September 13 to clarify and explain their side about this incident.
“The facebook account is not fake and it was created to reach and inform MBTF scholars immediately,” said Mark Joseph in his statement
Meanwhile, Mr. Marnie of CSWD asked for an apology to Mayor Belen because he was not able to asked permission to make a facebook page.
On the other hand, the said incident was clarified; “We only help poor but deserving students that is why I asked them not to make any FB account that may affect this program especially those who want to take advantage,” said Mayor Belen in her statement.
After all, Mark Joseph and Nicolai expressed their gratitude to Mayor Belen whose generosity has changed their lives as a student.
“This scholarship is the answer to our prayer and we believe that God used you as His instrument to reach multitude of poor but deserving students like us,” said Mark Joseph
Nicolai added, "because of this scholarship he was able to help his parents when it comes to financial matter"
At present MBTF has 503 scholars and promised them to help until they graduate.
